Adopt Me Beginner Guide: How to Earn Bucks and Raise Your First Pets
New to Adopt Me? Learn how the Guide, pet needs, Task Board, jobs and Pet Pen help you earn Bucks and grow your first pets, step by step.
Adopt Me! is about adopting pets, looking after them and building a home. If you just joined, there is a lot to do and it is easy to feel lost. This guide shows the quickest ways to earn Bucks, look after your pets and use the game's built-in Guide so you always know what to do next. Details are as of October 2026, and a Halloween event is running on Adoption Island right now.
Start with the Guide
The Guide is a reward list that the game added on December 16, 2025, and it replaced the old tutorial for new players. You open it from the icons on the right side of your screen, next to Dress Up, Shop and Friends.
It has four sections: Pets, Explore, House and Trading Hub. Each one is a list of small achievements that you can only finish once, and they pay out Bucks or items. Some tasks only appear after you finish earlier ones. Examples from the Pets section:
- Open your backpack and equip an egg.
- Complete a need for a pet.
- Hatch an egg.
- Visit the Nursery and buy an egg.
- Put a pet in the Pet Pen and age a pet up.
The Explore section sends you to places around Adoption Island, such as the Salon, the Accessory Shop, the Toy Shop, the Dealership, the Pizza Place and the Hospital. The House section teaches you how to place, rotate, resize and colour furniture. Following the list is the easiest way to learn the whole game while collecting free rewards, including Starter Eggs and Tiny Age Potions.
How pet needs work
You earn Bucks mostly by looking after pets. Tasks appear at the top of your screen, and you complete them to get Bucks and pet growth. According to the wiki, you earn more when you are a baby and have a pet equipped, so keep a pet out while you play.
Common tasks and what to do:
- Hungry or Thirsty: use a food or drink item or a pet feeder.
- Sleepy: use a bed, in your house or at the School.
- Dirty: use a shower or bathtub in your house.
- Bored: go to the Playground, or play the piano at home.
- Sick: go to the Hospital and talk to Doctor Heart, eat a Healing Apple or sit on an operation bed.
- Walk, Ride, Catch, Potty and Pet Me: do the action with your pet, such as walking around or throwing a toy.
Orange tasks make you travel to a place, such as the Campsite, the Beach Party, the Salon or the Pizza Shop. They only last a short time but give more Bucks, so do them when they appear.
Ways to earn Bucks
- Daily Reward. Log in at least every 15 hours to collect it. The wiki lists the first five days at 25, 50, 100, 200 and 300 Bucks, plus a star for each day.
- The Task Board. You get four tasks each real-life day. The first three pay 25 Bucks each and also give a daily prize that changes, such as a Cracked Egg or a gift. The fourth task pays 100 Bucks. Many of the fourth tasks involve friends, like helping with a friend's pet or visiting a friend's home for a minute.
- Jobs. There are nine jobs in total: Doctor, Nurse, Principal, Teacher, Manager, Chef, Waiter or Waitress, Salon Manager and Stylist. You pick them up at the Hospital, School, Pizza Shop and Salon. Most jobs pay 15 Bucks per minute, with a cap of 50 Bucks per Adopt Me day. The Chef gets 10 Bucks for each pizza made.
- Looking after pets. Keep doing tasks while you play and the Bucks add up.
- Guide achievements. Several of them give Bucks as a one-time reward.
There is also a small paycheck for playing, which the wiki says arrives from time to time.
Growing your first pets
Your pets start as Newborns and grow through Junior, Pre-Teen, Teen and Post-Teen to Full Grown. They age by completing tasks. The wiki gives the number of tasks needed from Newborn to Full Grown for each rarity, after a change in September 2025:
- Common: 25 tasks
- Uncommon: 36 tasks
- Rare: 54 tasks
- Ultra-Rare: 107 tasks
- Legendary: 183 tasks
Every time a pet ages up, you get a reward, such as food, Bucks, potions or an egg. You can also use the Pet Pen next to your house to age pets while you do other things. It holds up to five pets, and the first four slots are free. Pets in the pen can earn growth even when you are offline, but more slowly, and you have to come back and claim it before a pet can keep going.
Once a pet is Full Grown, it gets a friendship bar instead, and you get an Age-Up Potion each time that bar fills up.
Trading safely
Trading lets you swap items with other players. To trade Ultra-Rare and Legendary items you need a Trade License, which you get by passing the test at the Safety Hub. The Safety Hub also has a Trade Book to learn about scams. Never share your password and do not trust anyone who asks you to leave the game to trade. Adopt Me! can sell items for Robux, but you never need to spend money to enjoy it, and you should ask a parent or guardian before buying anything.
