How to Make a Neon Pet in Adopt Me (and Get Mega Neon)

Learn how to make a Neon pet in Adopt Me: what you need, how to age four pets to Full Grown, how the Neon Cave works and how to reach Mega Neon.

Neon pets are among the most popular things to collect in Adopt Me!. They glow in special spots and are a great goal after your first few days. The good news is that you do not need to buy anything to make one. You only need four matching pets and some time. This guide explains every step as of October 2026.

What is a Neon pet?

A Neon pet is a pet with a glow on certain parts of its body. The color of the glow is different for each kind of pet. Neons have been in the game since July 2019. They are made by combining four pets in the Neon Cave. A Mega Neon is the next step up: it glows in the same places but cycles through different colors.

What you need

  • Four pets of the same species. Two cats and two dogs will not work. It has to be four of the same pet.
  • All four must be Full Grown. That is the last growth stage after Newborn, Junior, Pre-Teen, Teen and Post-Teen.
  • Ordinary pets only. The pets you put in must not be Neon already.

A few pets can never become Neon. According to both wikis, these are the Pet Rock (not the Rock), Scoob, Pumpkin, Burtaur and MFR Sandwich.

Step 1: Get four of the same pet

Pets come from eggs, events, trades and more. For your first Neon, pick something easy. A Common pet needs the fewest tasks to grow, so it is the quickest way to learn how Neons work before you try a rare pet.

Step 2: Age all four pets to Full Grown

Pets grow by completing tasks, such as feeding, walking and sleeping. The number of tasks from Newborn to Full Grown depends on rarity, as listed on the wiki after the September 2025 change:

  • Common: 25 tasks
  • Uncommon: 36 tasks
  • Rare: 54 tasks
  • Ultra-Rare: 107 tasks
  • Legendary: 183 tasks

You need to do this four times, so a Common Neon takes about 100 tasks and a Legendary Neon takes about 732. Ways to make it faster:

  1. Use the Pet Pen. It sits next to your house and can age pets while you play or even while you are away. The first four slots are free.
  2. Use Age-Up Potions. The wiki says feeding one to a pet gives it 30 tasks of growth.
  3. Trade for Full Grown pets. If you already have friends who are trading, you can swap for pets that are already grown. Always trade carefully and use the Trade Book at the Safety Hub if you are not sure.
  4. Play with a pet equipped. The game gives more Bucks when you have a pet out, and every need you complete moves it closer to the next age.

Pets that you grow this way also give you rewards each time they age up.

Step 3: Go to the Neon Cave

The Neon Cave is a location on Adoption Island. The Guide even has a task called Visit the Neon Cave, so it is easy to find your way using the in-game map. When you walk in, you will see a platform with four glowing circles around the edge.

Step 4: Place the pets and fuse them

  1. Use one of the glowing circles to place one of your Full Grown pets.
  2. Repeat on the other three circles with matching pets.
  3. When all four are placed, they merge into one new Neon pet.

Think carefully before you do this. The four pets are combined for good, so you cannot get the originals back. If any of the four pets could Fly or Ride, the Neon version gets those abilities as well. If one of the pets already had a friendship level, that friendship moves to the new Neon pet.

Step 5: Grow your Neon

A new Neon starts small and grows through its own stages: Reborn, Twinkle, Sparkle, Flare, Sunshine and Luminous. The tasks needed are the same as for the normal version of that rarity. For example, a Common pet takes the same number of tasks as before, even though the stage names are different.

After a Neon reaches Luminous, it can keep gaining friendship levels with no limit.

Next goal: Mega Neon

To make a Mega Neon, you need four Luminous Neon pets of the same kind. That means you need to make four Neons first, so it is a very long project. Placing them in the Neon Cave again combines them into one color-changing pet. Because it takes sixteen base pets, most players start with a Common pet.

Tips for a smooth start

  • Do not spend Robux to skip the work. Adopt Me! is free to play and you should ask a parent or guardian before any purchase.
  • Check each pet before fusing, so you are sure all four are the same kind and Full Grown.
  • Use the Task Board and the Daily Reward to earn Bucks for the food and supplies your pets need.
  • Be careful with trades. Never share your password and never trust offers that ask you to leave the game.
  • Event pets and rules can change. Check the in-game pet descriptions if something looks different.
