The Strongest Battlegrounds beginner guide: controls, dashes and first character

New to The Strongest Battlegrounds? Learn the controls, why movement and side dashes matter more than long combos, how hit baiting works and how to pick a forgiving character.

The Strongest Battlegrounds is a fighting game where you train and fight other players. It runs on PC, console and mobile. This guide covers the basic controls, what to practice first, and how to choose a character that does not punish every mistake. Character details change with updates, so check in game if something looks different.

Controls

The game's Roblox page lists these controls:

  • Left click: punch.
  • F: block.
  • Q: dash.
  • Q while ragdolled: ragdoll cancel or evasive.
  • Double tap W: run.
  • G: ultimate mode.
  • B: emote wheel.

Learn the three that decide fights first: dash, block and the ragdoll cancel. The Roblox page also says rewards in the game are randomized emotes and spins, with equal chances for all items and no duplicates.

Practice movement before long combos

A common beginner belief is that you win by memorizing long combos. TechWiser's beginner guide argues the opposite: spend most of your practice time on movement. Do not stand still during a fight. Change direction, add jumps, and avoid patterns an experienced player can read and punish.

TechWiser describes two dashes that matter early:

  • Side dash: the safest choice for attacking from long and medium range.
  • Long dash: covers the most ground of any dash in the game.

Be patient

Charging in at the start of every match is a bad habit. Watch your opponent, let them spend their cooldowns, then attack when they are open. Passive does not mean timid: it means being selective about when you commit.

Hit baiting is the simplest way to practice this:

  1. Step into the opponent's range to draw out a swing.
  2. Pull back so the swing misses.
  3. Punish during their recovery animation.

Pick a playstyle

TechWiser describes three approaches. Passive means waiting, spacing and counterattacking. Aggressive means attacking constantly while reading distance and blocking. A mix of the two keeps opponents guessing, and the guide recommends switching depending on the situation.

Choosing your first character

Some characters punish small mistakes, which slows down learning. The guide suggests picking a forgiving one and names Deadly Ninja and Destructive Cyborg as its author's favorites. Try each character you can and stay with the one that feels comfortable, since every character has a different playstyle but the same fundamentals.

If you try Deadly Ninja, the fan wiki (which says it is no longer being updated) describes a character whose moves are all ranged. Its main weakness is that almost all of its moves can be blocked, countered or ragdoll canceled, so it asks for precise play. After you finish an opponent with a skill, you get 3 teleport dashes that make you vanish and reappear with no cooldown until they are used up. Ultimate mode gives 20 of them. Treat those numbers as possibly outdated, because the wiki's roster is old.

Practice plan for your first session

  1. Spend a few matches only on side dashing and blocking.
  2. Stay on one character and avoid predictable patterns, which experienced opponents can read and punish.
  3. Add hit baiting once your movement feels steady.
  4. Switch characters only after you understand why you lost a fight.

If you ever spend on extras in any Roblox game, remember that they cost real money.
