Pet Simulator 99 Beginner Guide: What to Do First
A simple first-session plan for Pet Simulator 99: break things, hatch eggs, pick the right area and avoid common early mistakes.
New to Pet Simulator 99? After reading this you will know what to do in your first session, how to pick a good area to farm, and which habits slow beginners down. The game is made by BIG Games Pets, and its Roblox page describes the goal as building an army of pets that help you get rich.
The basic loop
Everything in the game follows the same cycle. You break objects like coin piles and chests to earn Coins, you spend Coins on eggs and on opening the next area, and the pets you hatch break things faster. Then you repeat it in a better area.
Early on your pets do most of the work. Hold your click on the nearest breakable and let your team join in.
Your first session, step by step
- Start earning Coins. Hold your click on the closest breakable and keep moving to the next one. Small piles count too.
- Hatch early. Use the first egg machine as soon as you can afford it. Starter pets are weak, but any pet helps you break faster.
- Equip your best pets. Open your inventory and put your strongest pets on your team. Check this again after every few hatches.
- Do the tutorial quests. They hand out free pets and some starter currency, so they are the best head start you can get.
- Open the next area. Once you have cleared the breakables around you, spend Coins at the gate to open the next area. Eggs there are better too.
- Save your Diamonds. Do not spend them on weak eggs. Keep them for the best egg in the world you are currently playing.
How to choose where to farm
Do not just chase the highest area number. One guide suggests a simple 10 second rule: if clearing the breakables in an area takes your team longer than about 10 seconds, go back to an easier area and farm there until your pets are stronger. Speed matters more than area number early on.
Another guide gives a similar test from its author's own experience (these are the author's targets, not official numbers): if the biggest chest in your area breaks in under 5 seconds, you are ready to move forward, and if it takes over 15 seconds, you need better pets or upgrades first.
Spending Coins and Gems wisely
- Hold your Coins until a purchase gives you a real jump in power, not just a slightly better pet.
- The DungeonPath author suggests buying Damage upgrades first, then Coin upgrades, then Gem upgrades, and leaving health and other stats for later. This is advice from one guide, so treat it as a good starting point.
- Early on you can ignore limited-time event eggs. They can become outdated fast, and you will enjoy them more with a solid team.
- Be careful with fusing pets into stronger versions. Do not fuse a pet you are still farming with, because it can slow you down.
Rebirths, trading and codes
At some point your Coin gains slow down. That is the time to think about a Rebirth. Read our Pet Simulator 99 rebirth guide when you get there, because a rebirth resets some of your progress.
Trading is a place where beginners get tricked. Trade only inside the in-game Trading Plaza, and check item values before you agree to anything. Never trade outside the game, and never give your account details to anyone. Also, one guide advises waiting on big Trading Plaza purchases until you are well into the game.
Codes sometimes give free Diamonds and boosts. Check the game's official channels for current ones.
A note on Robux
You do not need to spend Robux to enjoy the early game. Gamepasses and boosts cost real money, so ask a parent or guardian before buying anything.
Quick checklist
- Hold click on breakables and keep your whole team equipped.
- Finish the tutorial quests for free pets.
- Farm in an area where breakables fall in about 10 seconds.
- Save Diamonds for the best egg available.
- Trade only in the Trading Plaza and check values first.
