Jujutsu Shenanigans beginner guide: controls, ragdoll cancel and counters

Learn the Jujutsu Shenanigans controls, how M1 combos and blocking work, when to ragdoll cancel, which counters beat which attacks, and which characters suit beginners.

Jujutsu Shenanigans is a battlegrounds-style fighter where each character has a cursed technique with four skills, a special move and an awakening. This guide covers the basic controls and the habits that win early fights. Moves and balance change often, so treat character details as correct as of October 2026.

Controls on PC

The game's Roblox page lists these keys, and you can rebind them in settings:

  • Left click (M1): melee combo.
  • 1, 2, 3, 4: your four skills.
  • Q: dash. Also use it to escape stun.
  • F: block.
  • R: special.
  • W twice: sprint, which avoids obstacles automatically.
  • G: awaken.

Mobile players get on-screen buttons for block, skills, the awakening and jump, plus a swipe to dash.

How M1 and blocking work

According to the wiki, holding or repeating M1 chains up to four hits for a total of 14 damage (3, 3, 4 and 4), then a 2 second downtime. The fourth hit ragdolls the target and changes with your movement: neutral knocks them back, jumping gives an uppercut that launches them, and falling gives a downslam that bypasses ragdoll.

Block cancels damage and stun from attacks in front of you, but you move slowly and cannot attack or dash while holding it. It only covers roughly the front half of your character, so attacks from the side or behind can still hit. A blocked M1 also leaves you with double the usual end lag, so do not spam it into a block.

Winning neutral

Both guides describe fights as starting in a neutral state, where neither player has an advantage. The default way to break it is trading M1s. The wiki says ping, reaction speed and tracking matter more than M1 speed passives.

  • Front dashes are good but easy to read.
  • Dashes and many mobility skills usually lack armor, so an opponent can interrupt them. Do not dash in range of an enemy who is waiting to punish.
  • Bait with feints, then punish the end lag.

Ragdoll cancel

When you are ragdolled, press Q while holding M1 toward the enemy to break the stun. Dashing away right away wastes it and leaves you open to long combos. It is better to cancel toward an opponent who has just used a slow attack and punish them. Some players refuse to cancel to bait your next move. When that happens, shorten your combo and reset to neutral instead of greedily extending.

The wiki also notes that burst can be used while stunned, not only while ragdolled, which helps against teams.

Attack types and counters

GAMES.GG lists five attack types: Melee, Bullet, Explosion, Swarm and Domain. Counter moves only work on certain types:

  • Manji Kick counters all five types, so it is the most flexible counter.
  • Parry counters Melee, Bullet and Explosion.
  • Head Splitter counters Melee and Bullet.
  • Supernova, Brothers and Shut Up! counter Melee only.

World Cutting Slashes and Dismantle Nets cannot be countered at all, so block or dodge them.

Picking a character

GAMES.GG suggests Vessel (Yuji and Sukuna) and basic sorcerer kits for beginners because of simple M1 strings and dependable damage. Honored One (Gojo) and Ten Shadows are rated intermediate, and Restless Gambler is advanced because of its high-risk randomized ultimate. Pick one character and learn it before you switch. The wiki says unfinished new characters are often limited to an Early Access gamepass, which costs real money, so you can ignore it and still have plenty to play.

Earning cash

Cash comes from kills, match performance and events. Public Shinjuku servers have the most kills available, and the Shinjuku map has destructible buildings you can use to disrupt combos. The roulette minigames give steadier cash with less pressure. Spend early cash on useful upgrades before cosmetics.

Practice checklist

  • Learn M1, block and Q before advanced combos.
  • Keep your ragdoll cancel for when it matters.
  • Learn one counter that works against your common opponents.
  • Save your domain for when you have a positional advantage.
