Hypershot Beginner Guide: Game Modes, Controls and Starter Loadouts
Learn Hypershot's game modes, default controls, how Gun Game works and which starter loadouts new players use, based on beginner guides and the official game page.
Hypershot is a first person shooter from Frosted Studios built around quick gunfights, movement and abilities. After this guide you will know which mode to queue first, which keys do what, and which starter loadouts players recommend. Some of the guides used here were written in 2025, so weapon balance may have moved since then. Check the in-game shop for current prices.
Game modes
The official game page lists Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Free for All and Gun Game, plus 1v1 and 2v2 duels. A beginner guide from Deltia's Gaming splits them like this:
- Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag are the objective modes.
- Free for All, Gun Game and the duels mostly test your movement and aim.
Start in Free for All. The same guide says you have access to every weapon there and face real players, so it is the best place to try guns and learn their recoil. Once your aim feels steady, try 1v1 duels to practice fighting one opponent at a time.
Default controls
On PC the default keys are WASD to move, right mouse button to aim, left mouse button to fire and Left Shift to sprint. Slide is C while sprinting. Other useful keys from the beginner guide:
- 1, 2 and 3 select the primary weapon, secondary weapon and knife.
- F is melee, V inspects your weapon and Z pings.
- Q, E and X use your three abilities.
- K opens settings, and holding Tab shows the scoreboard.
On console the abilities sit on the bumpers and face buttons, and on mobile an on-screen ping button can be switched on from settings. You can change every keybind in the Controls section of the settings menu. Hypershot is free to play, with optional purchases that cost real money. You never need to buy anything to learn the game.
How Gun Game works
Gun Game is inspired by the Call of Duty mode of the same name. Every time you score a kill, your weapon is swapped automatically, so you have to adapt on the fly. According to Sportskeeda's guide from August 2025, players are split into two factions and the first faction to reach 30 kills wins. If the 10 minute timer ends first, the faction with more kills wins. The player with the most kills becomes MVP, and everyone earns coins based on their performance.
To join, open the Game Modes tab in the main menu, switch to Gun Game and press Queue. You land in a match that is already running, so press Spawn or Space to jump in. If a new weapon feels awkward, fire a few test shots before you commit to a fight. The mode has a luck element, because an opponent may simply get better guns, so stay calm and do not chase kills across the map.
Starter loadouts
A loadout is a primary weapon, a secondary weapon and three abilities. Beebom's 2025 article lists these builds, and two of them are friendly to new players:
- AK with Paintball Gun: the AK is described as one of the best starter guns, with solid range and fire rate for medium and close fights. The article pairs it with Photon Shield, Auto Reload and Regen Splash, and calls it reliable for early wins.
- Tomato with Punisher: the Tomato never runs out of ammo and each hit deals 100 damage, so two hits finish an enemy. The slow fire rate is the trade off, which the fast Punisher pistol covers. Abilities: Regen Splash, Transcend and Exploding Peels.
For aggressive close range play, the same article suggests the AA-12 shotgun with a pistol, or the Vectorstrike SMG with the Enforcer pistol and the Tailwind ability. For holding long sightlines it suggests the Barrett sniper, which deals 300 damage to any body part, with the Unicorn Shorty as a backup. Treat these as ideas to test, not rules.
Beginner checklist
- Spend your first matches in Free for All and try several weapons.
- Practice sliding and jumping while you fire, because standing still is the fastest way to lose.
- Pick one loadout and learn its recoil before swapping.
- Use the ping button so your team knows where enemies are.
- Play fair: the developers state that cheating of any form results in a ban on all accounts.
There are no working Hypershot codes listed by the October 2026 sources we checked, so there is no codes page for it yet.
