Cameraman Tower Defense Beginner Guide: Coins, Summons and Upgrades
A starter guide for Cameraman Tower Defense: how matches work, the four difficulties, how to earn your first coins, what the Basic Crate gives and how to upgrade.
Cameraman Tower Defense is a Roblox tower defense game where camera-themed units hold off waves of walking toilets. After this guide you will know how a match works, how to earn your first coins, what to spend them on and how to upgrade without wasting cash. Details come from guides updated in October 2026, so unit lists and rewards may change with updates.
How a match works
All players meet in one shared lobby. To start a match, step on an elevator pad such as the Toilet City pad. A match can have one to five players. Before wave one, everyone votes on a difficulty. The guides we read list these:
- Easy: 20 waves, 100 coins for a win, suggested for Basic units and better.
- Normal: 30 waves, 200 coins, suggested for Uncommon and better.
- Hard: 35 waves, 300 coins, suggested for Rare and better.
- Insane: 50 waves, 600 coins, suggested for Legendary and better.
Your base has 1000 HP, so the goal is to stop the toilets before they reach it. You place units on valid tiles beside the track during the break before each wave, using the cash you earn inside the match. A white circle shows a unit's range. Press R to rotate a unit and X to cancel a placement.
Cash versus coins
There are two separate kinds of money, and mixing them up is a common beginner problem:
- Cash is earned during a match, by clearing waves, and is used to place and upgrade units. The first waves pay 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250, which means each wave pays 50 more than the one before.
- Coins are earned when you win a match and are spent in the lobby to summon new units.
How to earn your first coins
- Join the Aligators Games group on Roblox, then like and favorite the game. Go back to the lobby and a Cameraman NPC gives you a one-time 200 coins. Pocket Tactics and AllThingsHow both mention this reward.
- Win Easy matches. The first coins you earn from wins go straight into summons.
- Win at least three matches to open the code box in the Shop. Three codes were listed as working in mid October 2026, each worth 50 coins, and you can find them on our Cameraman Tower Defense codes page.
What to summon
The Basic Crate costs 100 coins for one pull, or 900 coins for ten, so the ten-pull is cheaper per unit. AllThingsHow lists these odds:
- Cameraman: 49.9 percent
- Car Speakerman: 30 percent
- Popcorn Cameraman: 15 percent
- Large Speakerman: 4 percent
- Laser Cameraman Car: 1 percent
- Upgrade to Cameraman Helicopter: 0.1 percent
You start with basic Cameraman and Speakerman units, so your 200 coin bonus covers two pulls. You can sell duplicates, and you can trade units with other players in the lobby, so be careful and only trade with people you trust. Never agree to trades that involve paying real money outside the game.
How to upgrade
The most useful idea in these guides is that one fully upgraded unit beats a field of base units that cost the same. A Speakerman costs 100 cash to place, and its first upgrade costs 150 and takes damage from 10 to 25 and range from 6 to 8. A base Cameraman deals 25 damage every 3 seconds, but fully upgraded it deals 100 damage every second, which is a huge jump in damage per second.
A good routine:
- Cover the first bends with a few cheap units.
- Put most of your later cash into one or two units until they reach their top level.
- Keep an eye on placement limits. Each player can field up to 15 units, and some units, such as the Jetpack Cameraman and Engineer Cameraman, are capped at three.
- Check the range circle before placing, so units sit where the track bends and enemies stay in range longer.
Checklist
- Claim the 200 coin group reward.
- Win Easy a few times, then try Normal when you own an Uncommon or better unit.
- Spend coins on ten-pulls when you have 900.
- Redeem the codes once you have three wins.
- Upgrade one carry before spreading cash around.
