Ball VS Ball Beginner Guide: How Matches Work, Best Ways to Get Balls

New to Ball VS Ball? Learn how ball picks and rerolls work, how to get new balls, what several ball abilities do, and how to redeem the free codes.

Ball VS Ball is an auto-battler. You do not steer anything: you pick a ball, and the ball fights on its own in a small arena. Your choices come before the fight, so this guide explains how picks work, how to build a collection, and what some of the abilities do. Details are as of October 2026, and the game is new and changing.

How a match works

The game has 1v1 and 2v2 matches. According to the game's Roblox page, each round you choose 1 of 3 random balls, and you can also pick any ball from your collection once per match for free. The wiki adds more detail:

  • At the start of a match you are given 3 random balls from the ones you own. Those are the only ones you can use, unless you spend your free pick.
  • After the free "All Balls" pick is used, each extra pick needs a Pick any Card item.
  • You can spend 3 Diamonds to reroll all 3 of your offered balls.

This means a bigger collection gives you better choices, and it also means you should think before using your free pick.

How to get new balls

The wiki lists these current ways to get balls:

  • Coins gacha and Diamonds gacha (random rolls)
  • Rewards for reaching certain player levels
  • Daily Login milestones
  • The Daily Store
  • Limited-time bundles (these cost real money, so ask a parent or guardian first)
  • Trading with other players

Some examples from the ball pages: Vampire Ball is a level reward at level 5, Machine Gun Ball at level 6 and Poison Spike Ball at level 9. Bomb Ball is the Day 3 Daily Login reward. Log in every day to collect these without spending anything. Level rewards and login rewards are the safest way to grow a collection when you start.

Free coins with codes

Codes give coins you can spend on the gacha. Two news sites, Beebom (updated October 5, 2026) and Pocket Tactics (updated October 11, 2026), list the same eight codes, UPD1 to UPD8, and the wiki lists them as available too. Each is worth 100 coins. See the Ball VS Ball codes page for the list we track.

To redeem one, click the gift icon in the top-left corner of the screen, choose Codes, type the code and press Redeem. New codes tend to arrive with updates, and the developers post news in the game's Discord.

What some balls do

Every ball has its own ability, so learning them is the main skill. These details come from the wiki:

  • Blade Ball (Rare): starts with 1 blade and gains another every 4 seconds, up to 5 blades. Each blade does 8 contact damage, so it gets more dangerous the longer the fight goes.
  • Bomb Ball (Epic): drops a bomb every 1.25 seconds. A bomb explodes after 4 seconds for 15 damage and knocks back nearby balls.
  • Vampire Ball (Rare): latches onto a ball it touches and deals 3 ticks of 4 damage, healing itself by the same amount. It can only hold one target at a time.
  • Zone Ball (Rare): when it touches one wall and then a different wall, it creates a damage zone that lasts 10 seconds. Balls inside take 4 damage every half second.
  • Cannon Ball (Epic): creates a turret each time it touches a wall. Each turret fires one bullet per second for 1 damage.
  • Poison Spike Ball (Epic): leaves a permanent spike where it touches a wall. A ball that hits a spike takes 5 damage and is poisoned and slowed.
  • Reforge Ball (Rare): spawns a small blade ball when it first hits a wall. Each time the blade touches the main ball it levels up, and each level adds 2 damage, starting at 3.
  • Beam Ball (Legendary): charges for 2.5 seconds, then fires a laser for 2 seconds that can deal up to 50 damage in total. It turns much slower while firing.

Simple strategy for beginners

  1. Match the pick to the job. Balls that build things on walls (Cannon, Poison Spike, Zone) need time, so they are good in long fights. The wiki notes that Vampire Ball struggles if it cannot make contact.
  2. Do not waste rerolls. A reroll costs 3 Diamonds, so keep them for a hand where none of your 3 balls suits the fight.
  3. Try different balls to learn what beats what, rather than always picking the same one.
  4. Use the free pick on a ball you know well, especially in a close round.
  5. Check your daily rewards and mail, where Destructoid says developers sometimes send bonus rewards.

Wiki pages for several balls are still short, and the "strong against" lists are written by fans, so treat matchups as a starting point and test them yourself.
