Holloway: She Hears Beginner Guide: Lives, Lockers, Noise and Passwords
How to survive and escape in Holloway: She Hears: how lives and difficulty work, when to use lockers, how noise gives you away and how to find the password.
Holloway: She Hears is a Roblox horror game where you and your friends are locked in a school after dark and something walks the halls. After this guide you will know how lives work, how to use lockers, why noise matters so much and how to find what you need to open the exit. Details are as of October 2026, and the game gets updates, so check the in-game menu if something looks different.
The goal
You have to find the password, open the exit and escape before the monster catches you. The password is part of the game, and it is not a code you redeem for rewards. The doors stay locked until you find it. As of October 2026, the fan wiki says no public redemption codes had been confirmed, which is why our codes page shows none as confirmed.
You can play alone or with friends. The Roblox page says the game supports 1 to 6 players, and one fan wiki mentions larger servers, so do not count on a specific size. It is free to play, and you can escape without buying anything.
Lives and difficulty
The official Roblox page lists four difficulty levels, and the number of lives you get each night depends on the level:
- Easy: 4 lives
- Normal: 3 lives
- Hard: 2 lives
- Insane: 1 life
If you run out of lives you can spectate your teammates who are still alive. One fan wiki lists only Easy, Hard and Insane, so the menu may differ from the store page. Both sources agree on the advice: start on Easy to learn the school layout and how the escape works, then move up when you can finish the route from memory. The wiki says Hard works best with a coordinated group and Insane needs strong coordination.
Noise is the whole game
The monster reacts to noise. Running footsteps, slamming doors, moving lockers and voice chat can all show her where you are. Everything in your play should be about keeping quiet.
- Walk slowly in dangerous areas and avoid running down narrow corridors.
- Do not talk into your microphone when you are close to the monster. Voice chat is optional and you can play without a mic, but it makes encounters scarier.
- Change your routes so your movement is not easy to predict.
- Prefer rooms that have two exits, so you are not trapped.
How to use lockers
Lockers give you cover, but they are not a safe place to wait forever. Three habits help:
- Go in only when the area is clear, and stay silent once you are inside.
- Do not go back into the same locker right after a chase.
- Memorize where the lockers are before you walk into a dangerous corridor, so you know where to run.
If the monster stays nearby, leave when a safer route opens instead of staying put.
How to find the password and escape
Finding the password is only half the job, because you also have to get to the exit without being caught. The sources give a few simple rules:
- Spread out while you search, and do not hide the whole team in one place.
- Pick one player to remember the password clues, so nothing gets lost.
- Work out your escape route before you activate the final exit.
- Keep an eye on your lives, and stay quiet on the way out.
The wiki also notes that the password system changes how the escape goes from one session to the next, so a route from memory will not always match what you see.
Beginner mistakes to avoid
- Running everywhere. It is the quickest way to be heard.
- Talking on voice chat near the monster.
- Hiding in the same locker over and over.
- Starting on Hard or Insane before you know the map.
Quick checklist for your first runs
- Start on Easy and learn the layout.
- Mute your mic when you are hiding or moving.
- Note locker locations as you go.
- Decide who remembers the password clues.
- Know your way to the exit before you open it.
See the Holloway: She Hears page for live player numbers and updates. Some Roblox games offer purchases that cost real money, and you do not need to buy anything to escape here.
