Fling Things and People beginner guide: grabbing, coins, Toy Shop and plots

Learn how to grab and throw in Fling Things and People, earn coins from slot machines, use the Toy Shop, claim a building plot and stay safe.

After reading this you will know how to pick things up and throw them, where the free coins come from, what to buy first, and how to avoid the few real dangers on the map. Fling Things and People is a physics sandbox made by Horomori. There are no levels or quests: you play with props and other players, and the fun comes from experimenting.

How to grab and throw

You pick things up with a coloured line that reaches out from your character. It works on loose props and on other players. Based on community wiki pages, the controls on PC are:

  • Left-click on an object or player to grab it.
  • Right-click to throw it.
  • Scroll the mouse wheel to change how far away you hold it.
  • Press R to rotate what you are holding.

On mobile you tap to grab and use an on-screen throw button. Controls can change when the game updates, so check the in-game menus if something does not respond. A good first exercise is to grab a crate on the Plains, hold it at different distances, and throw it a few times. Thrown objects keep their momentum, so a quick flick sends them further than a slow push.

You can also use some objects as transport. Players use items like pallets and long planks to fly, which is a more advanced skill. Learn the basic grab first.

How to earn coins

Coins are the game's only currency. The main free source is the slot machines placed around the map. Each machine has a cooldown of 15 minutes, so you will not get rich fast. Walk around, find the machines, and come back later.

Older versions of the game also had cash machines that were later removed, so ignore old videos that show them. Do not look for redeem codes either: the game does not have a code box, and sources disagree about codes, so we do not list any.

The game also sells game passes for Robux. These cost real money, they are optional, and you can enjoy the game without them. Ask a parent or guardian before spending.

What the Toy Shop sells

The Toy Shop lives in the Toys menu. Some toys already lie around the map, but others only appear once you buy them with coins. After you buy a toy it goes into your own toys list, and from there you can spawn it whenever you want.

Furniture and musical instruments are part of the catalogue, and furniture is mainly useful in your building plot. Since coins come slowly, decide what you want first. If you mainly want to mess around, you do not need to buy anything at the start.

Plots and building

There are 5 private building plots that players can claim, plus 3 public buildings: a barn, a cabin-style house and a factory. You can build alone or with friends. A plot has a member list that controls who is allowed to build, and it has save slots so your build is not lost when you leave. Extra save slots and extra building time are sold as game passes, so only think about them if you really plan to build a lot.

Staying safe

  1. Avoid the purple liquid. The factory has pits filled with poisonous purple liquid. Players who stay in it die after roughly 5 seconds unless they stand on something above it or climb out. Other players sometimes throw people in on purpose, so do not stand next to the pits.
  2. Use the train. A train travels between the 3 public buildings and carries players who sit in its seats. It is a simple way to see the map.
  3. Expect to be thrown. Other players can grab you. This is part of the game, so leave a server that is not fun and try a new one.
  4. Skip scripts and hubs. Websites that promise super throws or anti-grab tools can get your account banned, and many are traps that try to steal logins. Never type your Roblox password anywhere except the official Roblox site.
  5. Keep chat friendly. Use the report and block tools on players who bother you.

Quick checklist

  • Practise grab, throw, distance and rotate on a few props.
  • Find a slot machine, collect, and return every 15 minutes.
  • Buy one toy that you will really use.
  • Claim a plot if you want to build.
  • Stay away from the factory pits and from any script advice.
