Fake an Egg beginner guide: pets, disguises, stealing and Rebirth

How Fake an Egg works for new players: earning cash with pets, disguising as an egg, stealing safely, using the Index and what Rebirth does, with in-game checks.

Fake an Egg is a Roblox game from Slime Time Studios where some of the eggs lying around the map are really players in disguise. After reading this you will know how you earn cash, how the disguise and stealing side works, and what Rebirth does. The game is new (it was created in early October 2026) and it got a Halloween update on 23 October, so numbers such as prices can change. Where our two sources disagree, we say so and tell you to check in game.

How you earn cash in Fake an Egg

There are three ways to make money, and both guides we used describe the same core loop.

  1. Hatch pets. You buy an egg, carry it to your pen, hatch it and place the pet. A placed pet pays you cash continuously, so your first goal is to get pets working as early as possible.
  2. Disguise as an egg. Inside your own pen there is a tube (one guide calls it a green pipe). You use it to choose an egg disguise, then you wait among the eggs on the map. If someone picks you up and carries you to their base, you are close to their pets.
  3. Steal a pet. From inside another player's base, you grab one of their pets and run back to your own pen with it. The owner can chase you, and one guide says they can hit you with a bat on the way back.

AllThingsHow says you start with $30, which is enough for one Common egg, and that a Bunny Egg costs $30 and takes 60 seconds to hatch. Games.gg does not give a starting amount, so if your own start looks different, the update may have changed it.

Your first steps

  1. Buy the cheapest egg you can afford and hatch it. Waiting is part of the game, so use the hatch time to learn the map.
  2. Carry the egg to your pen and place the hatched pet so it starts earning.
  3. Keep buying better eggs as your cash grows. Higher rarity eggs cost far more, so do not skip the cheap ones early on.
  4. Open the disguise tube in your pen and try a disguise once you have one unlocked. It is the part of the game that is different from other pet games.

Disguising and stealing without getting caught

Games.gg gives the clearest tip: real eggs do not behave like a still object or a fast spinner. They jump and turn in a way that is hard to predict, and they start moving soon after being dropped. If you stand perfectly still or spin quickly, a careful player will notice. Copy the way real eggs move instead.

When you are the one picking up eggs, remember that any egg in the middle of the map could be a player. If your own pets are valuable, think twice before carrying an unknown egg into your base. One guide describes a Scanner item that tells you whether a map egg is real. The two guides do not describe scanners in the same level of detail, and shop prices and tiers differ, so look at the scanner shop in game before you plan around it.

The Index

Both guides mention the Index, a list that tracks the pets and other things you discover. AllThingsHow says it covers 83 species, and Games.gg says completing entries pays out cash and items. It is worth opening now and then, because it shows what you have not found yet.

What Rebirth does

Rebirth is the reset system. Both sources agree on the important part: a Rebirth takes away your current cash but you keep your pets. In return you get permanent bonuses, a cash multiplier and a faster egg hatch speed. Because you keep the pets that earn your money, a Rebirth is not a big loss once you have a solid pen.

What the guides do not agree on is the first Rebirth. AllThingsHow lists hatching one Bunny Egg and earning $750, with a x1.5 cash multiplier and a x1.05 hatch speed bonus. Games.gg only says the first requirements are small, such as starter pets and a low cash amount, and gives no numbers. Other pages online give different first Rebirth requirements, which may come from different versions of the game. Open the Rebirth menu in game (the button on the right side of the screen) and read the requirements and rewards shown there before you decide.

Common mistakes

  • Spending all your cash on a single expensive egg and having nothing left to protect your pen.
  • Standing still or spinning as a disguise, which makes you easy to spot.
  • Trusting old guides. The game changed on 23 October, so prefer the Rebirth menu over any number you read online.
  • Using scripts or exploit tools. They are against Roblox rules and can get your account banned.

Quick checklist

  1. Hatch your first Bunny Egg and place the pet.
  2. Check the Rebirth menu so you know what the game asks for.
  3. Try one disguise round with realistic movement.
  4. Open the Index to see what is missing.

If you like this style of game, our Steal an Egg beginner guide covers a different Roblox game with a similar theme. They are separate games, so what works in one does not carry over to the other.
