BlockSpin beginner guide: jobs, ATM hacking, safes and staying alive
A first-session guide to BlockSpin: what the game is, safe ways to earn cash, why you should store items in your house safe, and tips for avoiding ambushes.
After reading this you will know what BlockSpin is asking you to do, where your first cash comes from and how to avoid losing everything on your first death.
What is BlockSpin?
BlockSpin is an open-world action game on Roblox, set in a city based on a Florida county. The official description says you grind through jobs to unbox random reward cases, level up your character and work your way up to the top of the city. Combat, finishers and a world that reacts to your choices are part of the pitch.
Two guides describe the same basic split: you can earn an honest living with jobs, or go the risky route with hacking and fighting other players. Other real players are in every server, so a bad plan can cost you.
One warning from the game page matters more than anything else: when you die you drop everything in your inventory. The game tells you to keep items in the safe inside your house. Read that again before you go exploring with a full bag.
How to get your first job
Your first quest is to find work. You spawn near the gas station, and the Burger Place is the usual first stop for beginners. Here is the order that Destructoid describes:
- Walk to the Burger Place.
- Go behind the counter and step into the blue circle to accept the job.
- A mop appears in your hands. Clean up the puddles that show up.
Any place that has a briefcase icon above it offers a job, so look for those icons around town. The gas station is one of them. Jobs are slow, but they are the calmest way to earn while you learn the map. Roonby also points to quests as a source of extra cash and progress, so check your quests as you go.
Other ways to earn cash
Once you are comfortable, these are the options the sources describe.
- Loot and sell. Pick up items around the city and sell them at the pawn shop by the beach when your inventory is full. Destructoid notes a knife is not strong enough to make this route comfortable, so do not head there unprepared.
- ATM hacking. A hooded dealer in the alley behind The Butcher's Cut restaurant, near the town centre, sells illegal goods including Hack Tools. Start with the basic tool and upgrade later. At an ATM you press the red Hack button and play a small minigame: stop a needle while it sits on the green zone. You get five tries. Destructoid warns that some ATMs hold too little cash to be worth it, and Roonby suggests using a fast vehicle to move between ATMs and planning a route.
- Mix it up. Both guides recommend switching between methods instead of repeating one forever, so that you are less predictable.
I am leaving out the "rob other players" advice that some guides give. It is a fast way to get hunted yourself, and this guide is about learning the game safely.
Protect your money and items
Losing a fight can cost you your cash and your inventory, so protect them.
- Deposit your money. Destructoid advises depositing loot, stolen money and earnings instead of carrying them around.
- Rent a safehouse. You do this by interacting with the door of a house. Put items you want to keep in the safe inside, because the game page says that is the way to stop losing them on death.
- Heal up. Destructoid says blood bags help you recover after ambushes and long fights. They are sold at the hospital pharmacy and at the Quick 11.
Hacking or working with someone nearby is a risk. Destructoid points out that employees and ATM hackers may have a friend watching, and that anything distracting you can leave you exposed. Look around before you start a minigame.
Tips for your first session
- Learn the map before you chase money. Walk the town and note where the jobs, ATMs, pharmacy and pawn shop are.
- Start with a job, bank your cash, then try riskier things once you can afford to lose a little.
- Expect other players to attack. Stay alert and plan how you would escape.
- Join or form a group. Roonby suggests a gang for security and sharing proceeds, and Destructoid also recommends teamwork. Only team up with people you trust, and never share your Roblox password with anyone.
- Do not spend real money on in-game cash from third-party sellers. It can break Roblox rules and put your account at risk. Anything bought in Roblox itself costs real money, so ask a parent first.
Quick checklist
- Finish the tutorial and check your quests.
- Take a job at the Burger Place.
- Rent a house and keep valuables in the safe.
- Deposit cash instead of carrying it.
- Buy blood bags before you try anything dangerous.
Details such as pay, prices and locations change when the developers update the game, and the sources above were written at different times, so treat numbers in other guides with care. This is an unofficial fan guide, and BlockSpin is a trademark of its owners.
