DOORS Entities Guide: How to Survive Rush, Ambush, Eyes, Screech and Halt

A plain guide to the common DOORS entities: the warning sign for each one, how to avoid it, and the beginner mistakes that end most runs early.

Most early deaths in DOORS come from not knowing what each warning sign means. This guide covers the entities you will meet again and again, what warns you about them, and what to do. The facts come from the DOORS wiki (a Fandom wiki, text under CC BY-SA) and a Destructoid guide from April 2025. Damage numbers differ a little between sources and the game gets updated, so trust the on-screen prompts first. Details are as of October 2026.

The basic idea: hide or move, depending on the entity

You walk through numbered rooms, open the next door and look for keys, fuses and other items. Entities appear in the way. Some are dodged by hiding in a closet or under a bed. Others must be looked at, looked away from, or simply outrun. Learning which is which is the whole game at the start.

Rush and Ambush: hide when you hear them

Rush is the most frequent threat. The wiki says the lights flicker as a warning, then Rush runs through every room in a row, breaking the lights, and hurts anyone in its line of sight. It also makes a low rumbling sound that turns into a high screech as it gets close. The standard answer is to get into a hiding spot before it reaches you. The wiki notes that the room that triggers Rush always has a hiding spot. Flickering lights do not always mean Rush, since it can be another entity or a fake-out, so listen too.

Ambush works like Rush but is rarer and sneakier. A high distorted scream signals it, and it makes repeat passes. Destructoid says it can return from one to four times. The tip from that guide is to leave your hiding spot once the scream gets quieter, then hide again when it comes back, and repeat until it is gone.

Checklist for both: 1. Hear or see the warning, then go straight to the nearest closet or bed. 2. Stay hidden until the sound is gone for good, not just quieter. 3. For Ambush, expect more than one pass.

Hide: do not stay in the closet forever

The entity called Hide punishes players who stay inside a hiding spot too long. After roughly 12 seconds the screen turns red and the words "Get Out" flash. If you stay, you are pushed out and take 40 damage, and you cannot hide again for about 10 seconds. This is why people die to Ambush: they sit in one spot through every pass.

Destructoid's advice is to leave when the warning flashes, unless Rush or another dangerous entity is still nearby. In that case the 40 damage is better than the alternative.

Eyes: look away

Eyes can appear when you open a door. They glow blue or purple and, after a short grace period, hurt you while you look at them. The wiki says the damage is higher the closer they are to the center of your screen. So do not look at them: turn your view so they sit outside your sight and walk around them. Do not stop to stare to see what they are.

Screech: look at it

Screech spawns in dark rooms, including rooms Rush darkened. You will hear a quiet static sound, a slight shake of the screen and a "psst". If you look directly at it in time, it screams and goes away. If you do not, it bites for 40 damage. The wiki says light sources reduce the chance it spawns but do not stop it completely, so carrying a light helps without making you safe.

Halt: turn around, keep going

In some runs a door leads to a dark room (the Dining Hall in the Hotel or the Bridges in the Mines) where Halt appears. It teleports behind and in front of you and flashes "TURN AROUND" or "RUN AWAY". Both sources agree that touching it costs 60 damage and that your goal is simply to reach the end of the room. Follow the on-screen instruction when it flashes and do not stand still, because the wiki says the encounter gets harder with time.

Seek and Figure: the bigger encounters

These are larger set pieces, so only the basics here.

  • Seek: during chase sequences, follow the highlighted path: the correct doors and where to crouch or jump. Moonlight, also called Guiding Light, marks the way. Destructoid says a Crucifix can stun Seek but not banish him.
  • Figure: he is blind but hears well, so loud movement draws him. Destructoid suggests crouching and walking away, or hiding in a closet and finishing the short heartbeat minigame. The wiki describes the minigame: press Q and E (or tap the sides on mobile) when the halves line up with the heart.

Beginner mistakes to avoid

  • Running into a new room straight after an entity passes without checking for a second pass.
  • Staying in a closet past the "Get Out" warning.
  • Staring at Eyes to see what they look like.
  • Playing the whole run in the dark, which makes Screech more likely.
  • Spending real money to fix a bad run. Purchases in Roblox games cost real money, so ask a parent or guardian first. You can learn all of the above for free.

Quick summary for your next run

Hide for Rush and Ambush, leave closets when Hide warns you, look away from Eyes, look at Screech, and keep moving through Halt. When a new entity shows up, check what it does before you panic.
