Creatures of Sonaria Beginner Guide: Survive, Grow Up and Become an Elder

Learn how hunger, thirst and growth stages work in Creatures of Sonaria, how to use sniff and mud, and what Elder and Veneration need so your creature lives longer.

This guide helps you keep your first creatures alive in Creatures of Sonaria and grow them into strong adults and Elders. You will learn what the survival bars do, how to find food and water, how age and growth stages work, and what to do after age 100. Details come from the community wiki as of October 2026. The game gets frequent updates and Halloween content, so check the in-game screens if something looks different.

The goal and the starter creatures

The main goal is to keep your hunger and thirst up so your health does not drop to zero. You start the tutorial by picking a starter creature. The wiki lists Kaluaka (a sand-breathing creature that can swim and fly) and Sochuri (fire-breathing) as free starters. A third, Saukuryn, is only in a paid pack, so you do not need it. The tutorial also gives you a free random gacha spin token, which you use from the inventory.

During the tutorial you cannot take or deal damage, so use it to learn the controls. The game's Roblox page says to press K in game to view controls, and the wiki also recommends reading the controls page.

Finding food and water

Use the sniff ability. In the tutorial, a blue trail leads to water and a red marker leads to food. You can also open the map after sniffing to see water and fixed food sources. Which food you can eat depends on your diet:

  • Herbivores find infinite grass patches, fruit trees and berries on land, and seaweed and algae underwater.
  • Carnivores eat meat chunks around the map or meat from creatures they kill.
  • Photovores and photocarnivores have their own rules, and the wiki says some missions about eating or drinking cannot be completed by them.

Hunger and thirst both drain over time at a rate that depends on your species. If either bar reaches zero you lose health every few seconds and your growth stops. A low hunger or thirst warning shows before this happens, so refill early rather than late.

The wiki also notes that food values change with seasons. In spring a food source gives 125 percent of its base value, while winter and famine give 80 percent, so in cold seasons you need to eat more often.

Roll in mud

The tutorial teaches "Roll in mud", used from the action wheel (V key) or with the N key, to hide your scent. It also counts as one of the regional mission tasks, so you will do it anyway.

Growth stages and age

Age decides how strong your creature is. Stats rise slowly until you reach age 100, which is fully grown. The wiki breaks it down:

  • Ages 0 to 33 (juvenile): the creature is small, weak, loses hunger and thirst quickly, and may be missing abilities.
  • Ages 33 to 66 (teen): age-based movement limits are removed.
  • Ages 66 to 100 (adult): restricted abilities, such as elemental breaths, become available.

Eating certain foods gives the Satiated boost, which speeds growth by 50 percent while it lasts. Migration zones also speed it up. Starvation and thirst stop growth, which is the main reason to keep both bars full.

Do missions for Shooms

Regional missions pay 4 Shooms each time you complete a region's task set, and there is a 5 minute cooldown before you can repeat a region. On land the six tasks are:

  1. Eat or drink 50 units of food or water.
  2. Roll in mud 3 times.
  3. Attack or heal another player or NPC 5 times.
  4. Sniff out food 5 times.
  5. Survive for 150 seconds.
  6. Travel 2500 studs in the region.

Underwater regions have five tasks, without the mud one. Shoom piles also spawn in a few regions every 24 hours. Regional missions also speed up Veneration progress later.

At age 100: Elder and Veneration

At age 100 you can choose to become an Elder from the creature stats window (K). The wiki says Elder status builds up over the same span of time it took to grow from 0 to 100, and your age bar changes to a 0 to 200 scale and turns purple. Since the January 2024 update you also choose an archetype: Devious (speed and stamina), Gentle (regeneration and resistance) or Powerful (durability and damage at the cost of regeneration). The choice cannot be changed afterward.

At age 200 you can start Veneration. It has five stages (Elder II, Sage, Master, Venerated and Ancient), each taking 6 hours by default. Each stage can raise one trait, for example speed or max stamina, by a small amount.

Beginner mistakes

  • Playing a creature you do not understand in a busy area before you have found water.
  • Letting hunger run out and then wondering why growth stopped.
  • Forgetting that dying sends you back to the menu. A revive token is needed to keep age and mutations, and restarting wipes progress.
  • Spending real money on packs in a hurry. Any Robux purchase costs real money and none is needed to learn the game.

Codes

The wiki lists no permanent active codes at the moment. The only codes it mentions are limited event codes tied to official Discord campfire events. Codes can only come from the developers, so do not trust sites that ask you to log in.
